What is The Blake Lewis Army? The Blake Lewis Army (B.L.Army, or simply B.L.A.) is the official street team of Tommy Boy recording artist Blake Lewis.
Are you Blake Lewis? Are you a friend of his?No. We are devoted fans who have been supporting Blake's career since his run on American Idol. In 2007, Blake recognized our efforts and named B.L.A. his official street team. When Tommy Boy Records suggested a street team Blake let them know about B.L.A. Now we are not only working directly with Blake but with his manager, publicist, and Tommy Boy, too.
What is a street team?A street team is a group of fans who volunteer to tell others about an artist. We pass out fliers, hang posters, hold listening parties, do internet-based promotion, and help out wherever we are needed.
How is B.L.A. organized? There are several major areas of participation. We need teamers to promote Blake nationally and on the local level. National promotion includes emailing, retweets on Twitter, forwarding MySpace and Facebook bulletins, and adding B.L.A. info to your .sig at other forums. Local teams hang posters, visit record stores, make request calls, and distribute fliers and promo items at local events (concerts, fairs, etc.)
What are the qualifications to be a member of B.L.A.?There are no age restrictions to become a member of B.L.A. All of Blake's fans are welcome and encouraged to join our forums, discuss street teaming ideas, and report what you are personally doing to support Blake's career. To serve on a local team you need to be at least 16 years old, or have a parent or 18+ participant to help you.
The most important thing to remember is that as a member of B.L.A. you aren't just representing yourself. You are representing Blake Lewis, Tommy Boy Records, and Blake’s fans as a whole. Be friendly, polite, calm and professional at all times! What are the qualifications for local team leaders? You need to be outgoing, responsible, have reliable transportation, and be over 18. Working with us during Blake's east coast tour last year is a plus. You also must be able to receive packages in the mail, since you will be responsible for all the promo material going to your particular area.
What do the shirts look like? How do I get one?Tommy Boy Records is providing our amazing shirts and they can be seen here:
http://www.blakelewisarmy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=39 They are required for all street teaming events. Shirts are free for local team leaders and $8 for the other members of the team. Your team leader will bring yours to the street teaming event.
What do the fliers look like? The fliers are 8.5"x11" and you can see them here:
http://www.blakelewisarmy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2Will I get to meet Blake?Possibly, yes. We promote Blake's music at many different places and events so not every gig is a Blake Lewis show. The teamers who work the hardest at the non-Blake events will get the first chance for added perks at Blake's shows. There are never guarantees of meeting Blake even at his shows. Blake enjoys meeting his teamers, though, so it may happen!
